In 2004 the Phantoms began by fielding a co-ed U-15 (under 15 years of age) team. The Club was known as Cedarlane Rugby. Jen Dodge was coaching the team and they started off losing one and winning one against the Lakes Wildcats. They then lost a game to Fullerton and C.J. Marin came over and began coaching the team with Jen. The two coaches hit it off and the team dramatically improved winning the rest of their games that season. They even capped off the season beating the Fullerton Lions which was the team that CJ was playing for!

Over the next few years, the Hacienda Heights Phantoms continued to expand and develop as a club. C.J. Marin became the first president of the club and with the help of the club parents, continued providing an excellent atmosphere for the boys and girls to learn and play rugby.

In 2009, with the loss of C.J. Marin to a firefighting job in Northern California, the parents formed a new Board of Directors and filed for a California Corporation as the Phantoms Youth Rugby Football Club. The Board then filed for and received its tax exempt 501 (c)(3) status which will enhance its ability to take the Club to the next level, providing an optimum opportunity for the boys and girls to enjoy our sport. There is no limit to what we can achieve in the future! Go Phantoms!
